Tidy Thursday – Storing Cardstock

Today is the first day of Spring in the Southern Hemisphere (NZ). Something in the air makes you want to spring clean. I have been thinking about starting a section on this blog about storage, what I am using or have used. Sometimes an idea seems great and then you try it and it doesn’t work for your style of crafting (how you like to work/play). Everyone is different so here are several ideas on storage of your cardstock. This week the Warehouse has buy one get one free on all Sistema products so not only is it the 1st of […]

What is Washi Tape?

Washi tape is similar to masking tape but much prettier. It is strong but you can tear it as well as cut it. You can also put it on a surface and then remove it or reposition it. It is made from natural fibres most commonly from the bark of trees native to Japan. I have put it on glass bottles which I have then hand washed four times and it has remained in place but once I want to remove it – off it comes. I have yet to find out how long it will remain on glass but I did […]

Flower and heart wall hanging

The Flower and heart wall hanging is easy to make. You need a polystyrene heart (mine came as a set of three heart shapes from Dave’s Emporium in Hamilton), flowers made from card stock, a piece of ribbon for hanging, a brad (optional) and a glue gun. First prepare your polystyrene heart by applying two coats of paint in the colour of your choice. I painted one side and let it dry followed by the other side and then repeated the process. I have used a Resene test pot of Razzamatazz and Real Red card stock. It is a much […]

Covering a Notebook

Covered notebooks are currently my best sellers at the monthly Cambridge Market. So I thought I would write a post with photo’s giving the measurements I use so you can make your own. First you need the notebook. I cover the standard 3B1 which is 16.5 cm x 10 cm. Cut the Designer Series Paper (DSP) of your choice to measure 23cm x 19cm. I have used a piece from the Colour Me Autumn series. It is an advantage to all us in the southern hemisphere that our seasons are opposite to the United States. It is our autumn and this […]
